Description
In John chapter 14, verses 9-14, Jesus continues his conversation with Philip. Jesus tells Philip that anyone who has seen him has seen the Father, and he emphasizes his unity with the Father. Jesus assures Philip and the disciples that they will do even greater works than he has done, and he promises to do whatever they ask in his name. These promises are significant as they come amidst the disciples' confusion and disillusionment about the future. Jesus is preparing them for his departure and assuring them that they will have the Holy Spirit with them. The works Jesus refers to are not only physical miracles but also the spiritual work of bringing life and leading people to eternal life, the work of regeneration.
