We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel.
Colossians 1:3-5 (ESV)
Pastor Gregory explains how the apostle Paul is filled with gratitude to God for what God is doing in the lives of all the saints in Colossae. Paul points out three areas for his thankfulness. He is thankful for:
- their faith in Christ Jesus,
- their love for all the saints,
- the hope that is laid up for them in heaven.
Gratitude should be a distinguishing characteristic in the life of a believer.
