The Spirit Who Teaches

The Holy Spirit is a divine person, not a vague energy source, but an equal member of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Spirit is our helper, one who comes alongside us to be our comforter and advocate. The Holy Spirit is also our teacher who opens our mind to understand the truths of Scripture. Let us depend on the Holy Spirit to guide and change us that we may exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in our lives ( love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control).

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,  even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:15-17 (ESV)

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.  And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

John 15:26-27 (ESV)

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.  He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.  All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

John 16:12-15 (ESV)
