The Grace Benediction

A benediction is a sincere, earnest wish for all who hear it to receive by faith. Paul’s New Testament letters are filled with benedictions of grace because he understood the reality, necessity, and wonder of God’s grace. Grace is the undeserved favor of God, lavished upon us and available because of Christs’s sacrificial death on the cross. “Grace to you” refers to our salvation apart from our own works. “Grace with you” refers to our ability to access God’s grace in our lives each day.

That you may Believe - The Upper Room Discourse

Journey into the Night

In John 13:18-30, Jesus announces in the upper room that on of the disciples will betray him. Jesus is fully aware of the spiritual condition of Judas. Judas did not lose his salvation – he never possessed grace (John 13:10). Jesus extends the morsel of food to Judas in a final gesture of love and opportunity of grace, but Judas rejects Christ and heads out of the room, into the darkness forever. It is possible to know a lot about Jesus and still be outside of His grace. Jesus is the Light of the World, come to Him in faith today.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through…

Grace in Despair

2 Kings 6:24-7:16 Afterward Ben-hadad king of Syria mustered his entire army and went up and besieged Samaria. And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five shekels of silver. Now as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”…
